The Michigan Daily: Our First Mobile App
As a product designer for The Michigan Daily, I worked with a team of 6 designers to create, edit, and advise the creation of new Michigan Daily products. The Michigan Daily mobile app launched in September 2018. I collaborated with engineers to develop a faster, more fluid, and more interactive mobile experience for users. As a product designer, I created mockups based on user feedback for a personalized feed, content sections, and a profile page. Additionally, I contributed front-end interfaces in React Native.

Personalized Feed
With a new personalized feed, users can see only what they're interested in. The algorithm uses readers' preferences, reading habits, editor's picks, and breaking news to deliver a tailored content experience. It improves every time a user reads.
The design is broken up with horizontal content sections, full screen articles, and previously read articles.
Saved Articles
With the new update, users can quickly share and save articles straight from the main feed. Saved articles can be found on the 'more' page.
Transparent data sharing
Personalization happens directly on users' devices, and their data is never sent to our servers (except a phone number for notifications). Data can be accessed and feed preferences can be changed on users' data profile.
For this design, it was important to be clear and accessible, so our platform builds trust with users.
